Mark 8

Mark 8

vs13-21 – Leaven
v13 – we will make it to the other side
v14 – the disciples forget to take extra bread with them.
Jesus uses the bread to give a spiritual lesson
v16 – charged or warn
a. this is continual action
b. reminding about teachings is scriptural – 2 Peter 1:12-15
c. Jesus warned the people repeatedly about leaven
***Jesus said to do 2 Things:
           1. Take Heed – have some discernment/think things through/common sense
            2. Beware – means to watch out
-keep your spiritual eyes open continually…be on guard against evil influences
LEAVEN – represents sin, corruption and evil
v16 – the disciples though it had to do with them not bringing bread
1. THE LEAVEN OF THE SADDUCEES – Acts 23:8
-this is the denial of the supernatural
2. THE LEAVEN OF HEROD AND THE PHARISEES – Mark 8:15
-one of the things this speaks of is false doctrine
***Stick mainly to the Word of God in context —Ex: Mark 11:24
***The increase of false doctrines and teachers is the #1 sign of the return of Jesus – 1 Tim 4:1 & Matthew 24
***False doctrine today – Galatians 1:6-9
vs17-21 – the disciple did not put together and comprehend what jesus was really trying to communicate……
***Here are some things all of us must understand……
1. 1 Chronicles 12:32 –
-understand we are in the last days and must take action
-understand Jesus is visiting earth right now – Luke 19:44
-understand Jesus is pouring out His Spirit NOW – Acts 2:1-21
-understand we have one last time to reach the unreached – the GC
        *How to reach the unreached?
a. cry out to the Lord in prayer – 2 Cor 4:3-4
b. Be Obedient – Matthew 28:18-20
c. Express your compassion – we reach the lost because we love people and we have the answer….
                                   Mark 8:22-26
                         A BLIND MAN IS HEALED
v22 – conflict did not stop Jesus from His call or mission…
-during times of conflict:
—keep moving forward
—keep on grinding
—keep fellowshipping
*they brought a blind man to Jesus – bring people to Jesus
v23 – the Lord took the man to the side
-the crowds could hinder what was going to happen
-the crowds may have wanted to keep Jesus there and make Him King
-the crowds may have tried to stop Him from going to the cross
vs24-25 – 3 stages of healing – healing is also a process
v23 – the blind man looks up as if still blind
v24 – the blind man could start to see
v25 – the blind man could perfectly see and was totally healed and saved
v26 – do not go back to the village
—Jesus had already been to that area and they were filled with unbelief
—Jesus had to follow the Fathers plan for His life and mission. He was people and mission minded…
