Emmaus – means hot and heat
Some Awesome Things Happened On The Road To Emmaus
(1) THE EMMAUS ROAD IS A ROAD WHERE JESUS STAYS – Luke 24:29
-I want jesus to stay with me and CCWC and not pass us by
-Jesus is walking with the disciples after His resurrection
-The disciples did not want Jesus to leave – constrain…urge…plead…to press someone on an issue…they gave reasons fro Jesus to stay with them…this was a tone of urgency and desperation
-they cried out to the Lord – it means to roar like a lion…a ringing sound & shriek
***Matthew 20:29-34 – the blind men cried out to the Lord and kept crying out to Him
***Exodus 3:1-10 – the children of Israel in Egypt cried out to the Lord
1. The Lord limits Himself to our prayers
-when we pray the Lord moves. When we do not pray the Lord does not move…
2. The amount of people crying out to the Lord makes a difference
-in Exodus, millions of Jewish people were crying out to the Lord
-Leviticus 26:8 and Matthew 18:19-20
-corporate prayer is a part of prayer – Acts 1:15, 14 – prayer in tongues…
(2) THE EMMAUS ROAD IS A ROAD WHERE EYES ARE OPENED – v31
-all of our eyes must be opened to what is going in the days in which we are living
***Our eyes must be opened to know Him – v31
-that we are saved, He is the only Savior, to know how good the Lord truly is
***Our eyes must be opened that the church needs revival
-revival is for the believer to wake them up
***Our eyes must be opened that there isn’t much time left
-Jesus is coming back soon
-Signs showing Jesus is returning quickly
1. The elimination of the human race – 2 peter 3:10-13
-this describes nuclear war
2. Hatred of Israel – Matthew 24:9
-stand with Israel – Genesis 12:1-3
3. Disease – Matt 24:7 & Ps 91:1-10
-there are new diseases forming continually
4. Uncertainty across the globe
5. Jewish people returning to their homeland – Israel – Isaiah 43:6 & 11:12
-Israel has more Jewish people than any other nation in the world for the first time
***Our eyes must be opened to know that our nation is away from Jesus and the Word and must return to Him
-only 10% of the United States is saved
-the U.S. is one of the largest unreached peoples groups in the world
***Our eyes must be opened to understand that there are 2 main streams flowing @ the same time across the globe right now – Lukewarmness and Reviavl
-Lukewarmness is a spirit from the enemy
-Lukewarmness is disinterest in Christianity
-The enemy uses lukewarmness to pull us away from the Lord and His Word…
(3) THE EMMAUS ROAD IS WHERE WE GET ON FIRE FOR JESUS – v32
-Remember, the name Emmaus means heat or hot
a.) You will get on fire when you are close to the fire – Hebrews 12:29
v30 – they sat at a table together
v15 – they walked together
vs40-53 – they had lengthy conversations together
***Get close to the fire/stay near the fire
b.) Keep the fire burning in your life – Leviticus 6:9, 12, 13
-we are responsible to keep the spiritual fire burning in our lives…
