LUKE 2:22-35

VS22-24 – Jesus was presented to God in the temple according to the law of Moses 40 days after he was born…
-offerings were given – Mary’s offering was a poor person’s offering
***The presentation of Jesus was done for 2 main reasons:
1. as a time to set apart someone for the will and work of God
2. as a sign of redemption
-the blood of a persons sacrifice was sprinkled on them as a sign of redemption
-Mary was considered unclean under the law for having a baby and needed cleansing
v25 – there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon.
3 Things About this Man
1. He was just a devout – righteous/avoided evil/feared God
2. He was waiting for the Lord to come
3. The Holy Spirit was upon him
***Simeon’s name means HEARING
-He heard the Lord speak and obeyed Him
-Simeon heard that (1) he would see the Messiah before he died
-He had to wait on the answer
-The timing of the Lord is right and our timing is wrong
                                (2) to get out of the house and get to the temple
v26 – revealed – means to give advice
vs27-28 – Simeon go to the temple and saw the baby Jesus
WHEN WE SEE THE LORD SOME THINGS HAPPEN……….
(1.) WE RECEIVE PEACE – V29 – Proverbs 17:1
***PEACE IS NOT DETERMINED BY WHAT WE POSSESS, BUT BY WHO POSSESSES US***
-John 14:27
-PEACE ONLY COMES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST AND NOTHING ELSE
-peace does not come through the things that we possess – stop trying to get more
-storage facilities and units – more stuff will not produce peace
-anxiety issues are high in our nation – it reveals a lack of peace
Proverbs 14:27
dry morsel – this is old, moldy bread that has been sitting around with no taste
house full – a well-furnished home with a spread of food on the table
***It is better to have a little piece of dried bread and peace than to have a lot which breeds conflict and anxiety
92.) WHEN WE SEE THE LORD THERE IS COMFORT  – Luke 2:25
v25 – Jesus is the CONSOLATION of Israel
CONSOLATION means comfort to those who need relief…one called alongside to help…it speaks of knowing that everything is going to be okay…it speaks of one who is present to bring us hope…….
***The Lord comforting us will not eliminate pain and problems from our lives…..
Comfort is a supernatural love and grace that propels us forward…produces hope for the future…and assurance that everything will be okay…….
Proverbs 17:1
(3) WHEN YOU SEE JESUS YOU REALIZE THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY SAVIOR OF THE WORLD – vs29-32

v30 – Jesus means Savior…one who delivers and rescues
v31 – only Jesus was picked out to be the Savior of the world
-it is a narrow road – Matthew 7:13-14
v32 – salvation is for the Jews and Gentiles
***When you have an encounter with Him and His glory, you understand that Jesus is the only way to heaven and the only Savior of the world…
