The Lamb of God and Gethsemane

John 18:1 – garden of Gethsemane means oil press

(1) Everyone will feel pressure

-life, family, work, ministry pressures

-Jesus knew it would come His way

-pressure will come often – v2

(2)  The Lord will never give you more than you can handle – 1 Corinthians 10:13

What do we all do when the pressure is on?

(1) GET DRESSED AND STAY DRESSED – Psalm 91:1-10; John 18:6; 1 Thess 5:4-8

-this is spiritual clothes

-why do we need to get dressed?  We have an enemy

John 18:2 – Judas (represents the devil) knows the place of pressure we are all in

John 18:3 – demons pile on

Two Things To Note:

     (1) the enemy never gives up in his pursuit of us…. – 1 Peter 5:8-10

-he is a very patient enemy

     (2) there is no level of spiritual maturity that keeps any Christian immune from the devil and his tricks

-we can withstand all pressures by keeping our spiritual clothes on

(2) WE ARE SHEEP – JOHN 18:1-3

v1 – twice – his disciples

v2 – used once – His disciples

************NEVER ISOLATE YOURSELF*************

One thing rules you when you isolate yourself…………Feelings and Emotions

-be around people as they will help to align your thoughts…….

(3) PRESS ON – John 18:4

-never stop…keep moving forward…fail forward

-Peter stopped and backslid – John 18:15-18

(4) EVERY PLACE I GO, IT IS CROWDED – Luke 22:39-46 (v43)

-remember, we are not alone – v42 (the Father)   v43 (angels)

(5) HAVE A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS – Mark 14:32-42

-the flesh does not want to pray.  So no to the flesh and yes to the Spirit…….

Prayer Points:

     1. prayer casts all of your pressure on the Lord – 1 Peter 5:7

-it gives us the strength to not enter into the pressure

     2. Prayer helps you understand what is going on – James 1:5
