Joel 3

RESTORATION THROUGH FORGIVENESS
Joel 3:1-2
-The Jewish people will be restored back to the Lord through forgiveness
-the Lord is bringing the Jewish people back to Israel – Isaiah 11:11-12 & Ez 20:33-34
-Israel will be saved when Jesus Christ returns – Zech 12:9-11a and 13:1
Relationship vs Fellowship
Relationship
-This begins @ salvation
-an act of sin does not break our relationship with Jesus
-the power of sin is broken
-we receive the Holy Spirit and every spirirual blessing in Christ
Fellowship
-this is our every day fellowship time with Jesus Christ
-every time we sin we break our fellowship with Jesus.  We still have our relationship with Him
-we need forgiveness to remain in fellowship  with Jesus
1John 1:9
-if we – it shows every believer has sinned – John sinned to
-we must take responsibility when we sin
-there is no big or small sin
confess – means to say the same things Jesus says about sin…it means to agree with God
***it is connected with repentance and is not just words saying we were wrong
                 FORGIVENESS STATEMENTS
1. GOD IS A FORGIVOING GOD – Jeremiah 31:34
Isaiah 55:7…Psalm 130:3-4…Psalm 103:1-12
Psalm 103
Bless – is a “No matter what praise”
soul – this is our emotions and our emotions are involved in worship and praise
How we praise depends on how el we know the One we praise
A LIE FROM THE ENEMY
You have gone too far in your sin, have sinner too much and too badly to be forgiven
The Lord forgives ALL of our sins….
Dvid wrote Psalm 103
1. David knew better than to commit adultery and murder someone
2. David had a relationship with Jesus when he sinned and did not lose this relationship
CONSEQUENCES
-even though we are forgiven by the Lord, there are still consequences for our sin……..
-knowing this should motivate us not to sin – 1 John 2:1-2
***THE LORD FORGIVES AND WE NEED TO FORGIVE
FORGIVE – MEANS TO LET GO OF…RELEASE…TO GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO
HURT SOMEONE ELSE FOR HURTING YOU
1. FORGIVING IS OBEDIENCE – Col 3:12-13 and Eph 4:32
-it is a decision and action of the will…an intentional choice
-do not go by your feelings or emotions
-the more you obey and forgive, a habit is created
2. FORGIVENESS DOES NOT ALWAYS MEANS FORGETTING  Phil 3:13-14
-we can still totally forgive while still remembering
-Phil 3:13-14
             3 Points
***a relationship with the person who hurt you may not work out
***We should not want to want anything to happen to the person who hurt us
***Don;t tell anyone about what has happened
