JOEL 2

v12 – Now, Turn to the Lord

NOW – today and do not wait…

Turn to Me – this is repentance and it is heart repentance
-it includes action and change

v14 – the Lord will bless any person or nation for turning to Him

(1.) THE LORD WILL ANSWER OUR PRAYERS – v19
-we are disobedient and sin and do not turn to the Lord, He does not have to answer our prayers

-The Lord is waiting for us to be obedient

-Isaiah 59:2 – if we disobey He does not hear our prayers
-Psalm 84:11 – uprightly means to be righteous and honest
-Psalm 66:16-20 – as we turn to the Lord & repent, Jesus hears our prayers

(2.) THE LORD WILL TAKE CARE OF OUR ENEMIES – verse 20
-the enemies of Israel did monstrous things against Israel.
-Israel is hated today also

2 Things Joel Points To

1. Joel 2:18 – Joel has pity and is zealous toward Israel
pity – means to have compassion

zealous – means to be red hot and passionate in possessing someone
-The Lord will do everything possible to protect Israel

2. Joel 2:20 – He is the God of the I Wills
-the Lord will fight our enemies
-The Lord will do it
a.) He will remove the locusts from the land
b.) He will remove human armies and enemies

*The East Sea is the Dead Sea
*The West Sea is the Mediterranean Sea

***THE LORD WILL REMOVE ALL OF YOUR ENEMIES***

When the enemy comes against us, TAP INTO THE SUPERNATURAL…

(3.) THE LORD WILL DO MARVELOUS THINGS – VS 21, 30-32
***HE HAS DONE GREAT THINGS……..

*Marvelous and Great things include signs and wonders…..vs30-32

signs – are marvelous things that point to the Lord
wonders – means to be amazed…you wonder what happened…we can’t believe it

V30 – WONDERS IN THE HEAVENS – people seeing things in the skies (Lk 21:25)

blood and fire of smoke – from oil wells burning and the results of war

v31 – Matthew 24:29-30
-the coming of Jesus will be great for believers and terrible for unbelievers

v32 – whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved – Acts 2:21
-signs and wonders occur to get people saved

-the way to be saved is by calling on the Lord – Joel 2:12

(4.) SATISFACTION – vs19,26
-when you are away from the Lord, nothing satisfies

satisfaction – means to be content and full…to be convinced and certain of something

-Israel finally as convinced and certain that only the Lord satisfies…….

vs26-27 – there is no one like Jesus

Praise and Worship are forgetting about what’s wrong with you and remembering what’s right with God…
