Haggai 2

verse 1 – it has been one month since the temple was starting to be rebuilt

***IT FINALLY HAPPENED***

*Some things in your life will finally happen…..

*Galatians 6:9

verse 4 – BE STRONG – used 3 times in one verse

-do not be weary, tired or discouraged

vs2-3 – Questions are asked by Haggai

(1) Who saw the first temple that was built?

-only a few had seen the first temple

(2) What do you think about the new rebuilt temple compared to the prior temple?

v3 – the rebuilt temple is nothing in your eyes

-the rebuilt temple was not as large or as ornate as the prior temple

***The Lord looks at things differently

-the Lord was looking at the people putting Him first and being obedient

verse 4 – BE STRONG

-do not be discouraged

-Ephesians 6:10

verse 4 – BE STRONG AND WORK

Be Strong and Be Doing……

-we can do it because the Lord is with us….

***Finish the work I have called you to do……..

***Never stop working

verse 5 – The Lord keeps His Word and promises

covenant – means to cut (a blood covenant when Jesus was cut on the cross by the nails)

***Do not fear – stand on the promises – 2 Corinthians 1:20…

verses 6-7 – A SHAKING IS COMING

(1) THE SHAKING IS A PROMISE FROM THE LORD – vs6-7

-the Lord is going to do the shaking – v12b

-everything will be shaken

-only the kingdom of God will not be shaken – Hebrews 12:25-29 & Matthew 16:18

(2) THE SHAKING IS IN THE FUTURE – Haggai 2:6

(it is a little while)

a. we are presently seeing some shaking, but nothing compared to what is going to happen in the future

b. the shaking is being held back now so we can fulfill the Great Commission

c. the Desire of the Nations – the shaking will come to bring people to Jesus.

-the Desire of the Nations is Jesus and the temple

(3) THE ULTIMATE SHAKING WILL TAKE PLACE WHEN THE LORD RETURNS – Luke 21:25-28 (v26)

-signs of the return of the Lord reveal that the ultimate shaking is coming
