Chapter One

verse 2 – “THIS PEOPLE SAYS”

-the words My People are not used

-the Lord did not identify with the Israel that disobeyed him

“The Time Has Not Come” – the people said this, but the lord said the time has come

It’s Time…

***Luke 19:41-44 – we can miss God’s time

Haggai – means festive or festival. The Lord wanted Israel to celebrate

verses 3 – 4 – the Word of the lord continues through Haggai

paneled houses – means nice houses and fixing up your houses

-you are taking care of your own things and not the temple or the things of the Lord

-Matthew 6:33 – Priorities…

-there is a pull from the enemy when it comes to spiritual things – 1 John 13b-14b

-the enemy uses the cares of this world – the activities we are a part of

v5 – Consider your ways – means to set your heart on your ways

-consider how you are thinking & what you are doing…

-consider the principles of God and follow them

Some points about the principles of God

(1) God is a God of Principles

-He does not go by emotions or opinions

-we have a choice to follow them or not

-Psalm 119:1-24 – other words are used to refer to principles

(2) The Principles of God are found in the Word of God – 2 Peter 1:20-21

-God wrote the Bible

(3) The Principles of God are Permanent – Numbers 23:19

-they have always existed, will always exist and will never change

-man may try to change them, but it doesn’t change the Lords’ principles

(4) The Principles of God Work Anywhere and for Anyone

-the Lord is not a respecter of persons

(5) Principles of God, when Violated, Forfeits the Blessings of God

-2 Chronicles 7:14 & Exodus 15:26

***We need the Word of God…for many reasons:

(1) TO MATURE AS A BELIEVER – Ephesians 4:11-15

-the Lord desires for us to grow and mature

-East a balanced Spiritual diet

-do not place style over substance

(2) TO HAVE AND KEEP THEOLOGICAL INTEGRITY

-Many people are making up their own belief system

– it starts with church leaders – Isaiah 56:1

-then it goes down to believers who believer leaders

-do not go by emotions and intellect and media & other influences – EVOLVE

-Therefore Defend The Gospel….
