Haggai 1:12-15 – It’s Time

(1) ITS TIME TO OBEY THE VOICE OF THE LORD – v12
a. The Lord speaks continually – Haggai 1:1,2,3, 7/2:6,11
-Be careful of being overactive
-stay balanced – being idle or being too busy
-silence allows you to hear the voice of the Lord – it’s time to go camping
-Psalm 46:10 – seek silence, let the Lord pour in, Obey and pour it out, seek silence
 again
-obey the voice of the Lord – Haggai 2:19 – to receive the blessings of the Lord
b. The voice of the Lord goes along with the Word of God – v12
-Israel obeyed the voice and word of the Lord together
-what you are hearing must go along with the Word of God – Gal 1:6-9
(2) IT’S TIME TO EXPERIENCE THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD – vs12b-13
Exodus 33:12-15 – Moses – we need the Lord and His presence
-the presence of the Lord is to be feared
-the presence of the Lord touches and changes and moves people
v13 – The Lord said, “I am with you.”
THE PRESENCE AND BLESSINGS OF THE LORD INCREASE AS WE OBEY HIM – Psalm 51:1-4, 10-11…Joshua 1:7-9
-blessings came to Israel the more they obeyed the Lord
-the presence of the Lord increases because of the Lord and because of the believer
(3) IT’S TIME TO GET STIRRED UP – v14
-everyone needs to be stirred up – the leaders and the people
v14 – stirred up – means to be awakened…shaken out of a slumber
How are people stirred up?
1. Through obedience to the Lord
-as we obey, the Lord blesses and we get stirred up
2. Through crying out to the Lord – Exodus 2:23-25
-Israel cried out to the Lord and it stirred the Lord to action, Moses to come and Pharoah to let Israel go
3. By people stirring up themselves – 2 Timothy 1:6
     2 Timothy 1:6
Stir – means to resuscitate – to bring life to someone
1. this is a continual stirring – keep things alive
2. the gift was in Timothy – deposited in Timothy by the Lord
3. Make a decision to remain stirred up and spend time with Jesus
