FIRST PETER
The Glory of God
***9 times in 1 Peter the word GLORY is used….
***Peter refers to the GLORY of God because he experienced it when he saw Jesus transfigured in Mark 9 and the glory of God was present
***Moses said – “Please show me Your GLORY.” – Exodus 33:18
What is the glory of God?
-it is the weight of God’s presence that can be seen, felt, sensed & experienced
-it is the manifest presence of the Lord
-it is all about Jesus Christ and He alone deserves to be praised
(1.) THE EFFECTS AND FRUIT OF THE GLORY OF GOD DOES NOT ALWAYS COME IMMEDIATELY – Exodus 2:11-15
-waiting is a part of Christianity and we must submit to waiting on the Lord to receive many answers from Him
The Life of Moses is divided into 3 sections:
-40 years in Egypt
-40 years in the wilderness
-40 years pastoring Israel
-40 is the number of testings and trials and Moses lived to be 120 years old
-Moses had to wait 40 years for him to be used by God and experience the glory and manifest presence of God
-DO NOT WASTE YOUR WAIT-
-use the time you are waiting on the Lord to move on your behalf to grow and mature and become a disciple of Jesus Christ
-DON’T BE DISAPPOINTED-
-we can become disappointed when we have to wait…
Disappointment – means to be let down
Why do we get disappointed?
1. we lose our focus
-we place our focus on people and not on Jesus
2. Much disappointment is influenced by the enemy
-the word DIS means to separate, part ways, disconnect
-the enemy speaks to us and tells us lies – John 8:44
-the Lord will never disappoints us – Joel 2:26
3. You have unrealistic Expectations
-you think the Lord will answer all of your prayers immediately and on the spot
-develop realistic expectations such as you will have to wait on some things for the Lord to do
(2.) THE VOICE OF GOD IS CONNECTED TO THE GLORY OF GOD – Exodus 19:3-13
-the Lord can speak out of the clouds or the glory of God
1. At salvation, we receive the glory of God – John 17:22
2. Spending time with Jesus increases the glory of God in the life of the believer. It allows us to hear the voice of God more clearly – Exodus 19:9
The Lord will speak out of the glory that is upon your life and you never know what He is going to say…
-the Lord will say some good things – Exodus 19:3-6
-the Lord will say some challenging things – Exodus 3:1-22
-the Lord will reveal some things to you – Exodus 19:10
Wash your clothes – get your life cleaned up. Admit your issues and repent…
(3.) THE GLORY OF GOD PRODUCES MORE – Haggai 2:6-9
-as the glory of God increase, more happens
-more salvations, healings and more victories
-Haggai encouraged Israel to rebuild the temple that had been destroyed
-Haggai said the glory of the new rebuilt temple will be stronger than the old temple
-this greater glory will produce MORE. Get ready for MORE…….
