1. Pentecost was an acknowledgement of the provision and faithfulness of the Lord – vs16, 21
-this feast came at the conclusion of the harvest
-the Lord was trying to show Israel His faithfulness
-the Lord is Faithful even when we are not faithful
-there is a fight to believe this at times
*Israel had to fight the weather, bugs, drought etc
*believers fight time and the lies of the enemy
-The enemy speaks – Speak Back…….
-stand on the Word of God
2. Pentecost was a celebration of the harvest – v22a
-Israel was thankful for the harvest of crops
-our harvest is a harvest of people
For there to be a spiritual harvest, there must be certain characteristics present:
1. Focus on the harvest – Mark 2
-4 men were determined to get an unbeliever to Jesus to help bring in the harvest
-v22 – the harvest includes the world – everyone – 4 corners of the field
the poor – those who are literally poor and those who are spiritually poor and need to be saved
the stranger – this is the gentiles
2. Prayer that creates an open heaven – Mark 2:1-4
-To open something it takes strength and time
-we must cry out to the Lord
An Open Heaven:
1. the Holy Spirit comes through – Matt 3:16-18
2. The glory of God comes through – Ezekiel 1:1,4-5
3. Jesus comes through and returns – Rev 19:11-14
3. For there to be a spiritual harvest
-we must understand the priority of evangelism
-we need people to bring the unreached to Jesus
Nehemiah 3:1-2,32
-the sheep gate – this is the first gate mentioned.  It represents salvation
-sheep and lambs were brought through this gate to be killed and sacrificed
-no locks or bars because the door to salvation is always open
-the fish gate – Nehemiah 3:3
-the fisherman of Galilee brought their catch (fish) through this gate to be sold
-it speaks of evangelism and being a fisher of men  – Matthew 4:19
-redemption first and evangelism second
-the fish gate was closest to the sheep gate
