Acts 1:14 – Prayer moves the hand of God
PRAYER IS CONSTANT PRAYER – Acts 1:14
-do not just pray during hard times…PRAY ALWAYS
a. Constant prayer makes something happen – Acts 4:23-31
PUSH – pray until something happens
b. Constant prayer includes corporate prayer
c. The enemy will tempt you not to pray
d. Constant prayer is continual prayer – Genesis 32:22-31
-the Lord can answer immediately or after a long period of time
-the timing of the Lord is always right
e. Constant prayer restrains evil from totally taking over – 2 Thess 2:1-12
verse 6 – Israel was looking for an army commander to come and crush the Roman oppression in their land
verse 7 – no one knows the day or time of the return of Jesus Christ
-the signs show us His return is close
verse 8 – one sign of the return of the Lord is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit
verse 9 – The ascension of Jesus Christ
cloud – represents the glory & manifest presence of the Lord
verses 10-11 – angels – means messengers – male in gender
the angels nudge the disciples to GO and reach people for Jesus – no holy huddles
vs12-15 – there were around 120 people in the upper room
verse 11 – Jesus is coming back soon and nothing wil stop Him
-WILL COME……….signs show Jesus WILL COME
Luke 21:11 – earthquakes…famines…disease…the antichrist system – 1 John 2:18……..Matthew 8:28 & 2 Tim 3:1 – violence & chaotic times will come
ACTS 2
verse 1 – The Day Of Pentecost
-means 50 – 50 days from Passover Pentecost arrived – a Jewish feast
-the church started on the Day of Pentecost
***Acts is the pattern for the church to follow
***Jesus rose and the Holy Spirit came on a Sunday
***They were united – all together…
—Unity is only found in Jesus Christ
***It was the feast of harvest
verse 2 – SUDDENLY – some things in Christianity are done suddenly and some over a period of time…
-the baptism of the Holy Spirit came suddenly
vs2-3 – the first church service and what it was like – fire, outpouring of the Holy Spirit, noise like a wind, great joy & celebration & speaking in tongues
v4 – they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. It is from the Lord…
Zech 14:1-4, 6-7, 9 – Jesus will return to the Mt of Olives
