A Time of Visitation – Part II

A Time Of Visitation

Luke 19:42-44

v41 – Jesus saw the city of Jerusalem and cried

a. Jesus cried because people rejected salvation

b. Jesus cried because He saw the future

-the Romans were going to come and kill many Jews and level the temple and city of Jerusalem

v42 – the things which make for peace

-this is being born again which results in peace

       -your eyes are hidden

-this is a spirit of slumber and sleep that came upon Israel and is on the church today – Rev 3:14-18

v43 – years later, Rome came and destroyed the temple and city

What is a Time Of Visitation?

It is a season of grace from the Lord to earth.  The season of grace here was John the Baptist coming to point to the Savior to come.

Now it is the church pointing to the Savior to come…

The time of visitation is happening on earth right now – Acts 2:38-39

-recognize…receive…run with it

A time of visitation can be missed – Luke 19:44

-being to busy…not being up top date spiritually

TO SEE AND CONTINUE TO SEE A VISITATION FROM THE LORD…

(1) WE MUST EVANGELIZE –

-the church cannot turn inward

-we must ask the question to everyone we talk and witness to…

-to get the body of Christ to witness, each believer must be revived…..

Definition of Revival…….

*means to bring back to life

*to receive an invasion from heaven

*is a visible evidence that God is at work

*is heavens alarm clock that is waking up a sleeping church

2 Ways to revive the body of Christ

(1) through a supernatural touch of the manifest presence of God

-this comes through constant intercession

(2) by realizing that revival is an individual spiritual experience

-revival is not a meeting, but an individual believer being set on fire by the Lord

     a. revival is being hungry for God

     b. revival is Jesus driven

     c. there is a price to pay to get and keep revival

     d. we must want more

(2) WE NEED TO HAVE A HOLY HUNGER – Matthew 5:4

-we must have a divine discontentment…….

-we must pursue Jesus – Phil 3:14

-we must be relentless – persistent; decisive;unyielding;no slack;adamant;uncompromising;tenacious;unstoppable;steadfast;constant

-Pursue the Lord…

(3) WE NEED RADICAL REPENTANCE – Matthew 4:17

repentance – means to change one’s mind

How do we repent?

1. recognize that we have sinned and what we have done is sin

-1 John 1:9

-confess – means to say the same thing the Lord says about what we have done/to agree with God

-what is sin?  Whatever the Bible says is sin…

2. we must confront the chasm of our sin

-sin distances us from having fellowship with the Lord

-only salvation will close the gap

3. true godly sorrow

-we have sinned and it hurts us and it hurts the Lord

4. we repent and turn to the Lord

(4) WE NEED A NEW SET OF CLOTHES – 1 Peter 5:5-7

humility – means to make yourself low.  It is the picture of a river running low

a. humility is coming to the end of ourselves – we need the Lord

b. humility is boasting in the Lord

-to Jesus belongs all praise, glory and honor
