Daniel Chapter 12

The Next Big Thing – The Rapture

Daniel 12:1,10-13

-as we read Daniel chapter 12, you will notice the church is not mentioned

1) THERE WILL BE A RAPTURE – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 & Isaiah 26:19-21

-false teaching says there is not a rapture

-1 Thess 4:13-18 

a. the word rapture is not in the Bible.  Catching away is found in the Bible

b. Definition of Rapture or catching away – to be seized or snatched away speedily in a state of ecstasy

-no one knows when the rapture will happen

– spiritual signs indicate it is close

Isaiah 26:19-21

v19 – dead men – refers to jesus and all people and the resurrection

v20 – chambers – is heaven

indignation – is God’s wrath against the sin nature of man

v21 – the Lord returns after the 7 year tribulation ends

(2) ALL BELIEVERS WILL VANISH – 1 Corinthians 15:51-58

-the catching away will be millions of people across the globe vanishing instantaneously

-who vanishes?  all born again believers

a. 1 Thess 4:14

b. 2 Thess 2:1 – gathering together – means a complete collection

-the rapture occurs because of the grace of God…….

(3) THE RAPTURE RESULTS IN A UNION – 1 Thess 4:13-18

a. the rapture and second coming of Jesus are 2 different events

***Rapture – the believers meet Jesus in the air – 1 Thess 4:13-18

***2nd coming – Jesus Christ comes to earth – Zech 14:3-4, 5b

b. The catching away will result in many unions

1. a union with Jesus Christ

2. a union with family and friends

3. a union with all believers

4. a union with heaven
