1 Peter 5:8-9

(1.) THERE IS AN ENEMY WE ARE FIGHTING – Ephesians 6:10-18

-People are trying to erase items from the culture, Bible and church today

places – there is no hell

events – there is no rapture

persons – Jesus…the devil

words – sin – there is no sin any longer

devil – means a false accuser and slanderer

a. the devil is real…alive…he is an angel

– he is invisible but we see the effects of his work

b. he is an angel that sinned and rebelled against God

-he was not created satan

c. the Word of God says there is a devil and demons.  That is why we believe in a devil

NEVER MAKE THE BATTLE PERSONAL – with battle.  We are fighting powers of hell

v8 – the devil is our adversary  – it speaks of an opponent in a lawsuit

-he wants to take us down

(2) THE DEVIL IS NOT EQUAL TO GOD – Phil 2:5-11

– we build the devil up too much

-the devil is powerful but not all powerful

-the devil is defeated

-resist him – 1 Peter 5:9 – take a stand against him

-take a stand continually

(3.) NOT EVERYTHING IS FROM THE DEVIL OR DEMONS –

-There is a devil and no believer can have a demon

REMEMBER 3 THINGS:

1. The enemy gets involved in our problems, but is not the main source of our problems

2. It is the enemy when you cannot explain things any other way

3. Never overemphasize the devil – Phil 2:5-11

2 Equal And Opposite Errors To Watch Out For

1. One is to disbelieve in the existence of demons

2. One is to believe and feel an excessive unhealthy interest in demons
