vs 5-11 – these verses speak about Baylon – the Chaldeans – coming against Israel because of their disobedience to the Lord and His Word

–v5 is a double application verse speaking of”

1. the chaldeans invasion of Israel and what will happen

2. what will be taking place now in the 21st century

(1) ***The work the Lord will be doing is a visitation from God Himself – Lk 7:16

a. the Incarnation – God coming to earth as a man

-all man and all God

-never sinned one time

The Kenosis of Christ – meaning to empty – Jesus emptied Himself of the fullness of His glory and some divine privileges like divine knowledge and relied upon the Spirit of God – Phil 2:5-11 (v7).

b. Jesus Christ is God – 1 Tim 1:17 & 1 Tim 3:16…1 John 5:20

(2) ***This time of visitation is a movement of God – Genesis 1:1

-the Holy Spirit is on the move

-the Holy Spirit is always on the move – walk by faith and not by sight

***Hover mans to shake, to be over and to move continually

*Do not quench – put the fire out – the Holy Spirit – 1 Thess 5:19

verse 12 – Have you always been Habakkuk asks?  The answer is YES…

-We know God exists because CREATION DEMANDS A CREATOR…

Colossians 1:15-20

My God – John 20:28 – this reveals a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

We will not die – the Lord will not allow Israel to be exterminated and killed off

Chaldeans – were used by the Lord to spank Israel and bring discipline to them

O Rock or Mighty God – means the one who can never be shaken

*Haggai 2:6-7 – everything will be shaken in the last days

verse 13 – the Lord has Pure eyes

-the Lord cannot look on wickedness or evil

How can believers develop and keep PURE eyes?

1. ABSOLUTELY KNOW THAT YOU CAN LIVE A GODLY LIFE – 2 Tim 2:19-22

-we can live for Jesus

-Jesus did for us to set us free from the power of sin

-Declare victory daily

2. WE CAN DEVELOP PURE EYES BY PURSUING AND RUNNING – 2 Tim 2:19-22

Pursue – means to passionately go after something

Pursue righteousness – this is right conduct and character…pleasing the Lord

RUN – flee youthful lusts – means to run away…shun…escape

lusts – is a huge craving and desire for something evil…uncontrolled fleshly desires

Example:  Genesis 39:1-20

          WHAT DO WE NEED TO RUN FROM?

A. WHAT WE LOOK AT –

-what we look at feeds into your mind – Phil 4:8

-pull down every thought – 2 Cor 10:4-5

B. WE NEED TO RUN FROM WHERE WE GO

-only be in pure places

C. WE NEED TO RUN FROM IMPURE PEOPLE  – 2 Tim 2:19-22

v22 – “with those”

v21 – “cleanse yourself from these”

Be equally yoked…..

(3) WE CAN DEVELOP AND KEEP PURE EYES BY BATTLING THE ENEMY AND THE FLESH – 2 Tim 2:20-22

youthful lusts – a spirit of lust – use your authority

                      – the flesh battle – stay filled with the Holy Spirit – Gal 5:16

(4) WE CAN DEVELOP AND KEEP PURE EYES THROUGH CONFESSING AND PRESSING ON – 1 John 1:9

*never allow one act of sin to stop you from pressing on and do not believe the lies of the enemy that the Lord will not forgive you

-Confess your sins
