JESUS IS LORD

1 Peter 3:15 – Peter uses the words — “THE LORD GOD”

(1.) PETER DECLARES THAT JESUS CHRSIT IS LORD – v15

a, Peter calls Jesus the one true and living God

b. Philippians 2:5-11

                  3 Things to Note:

       1. Jesus was highly exalted – v9 – it means Jesus was exalted to the highest point…elevated up as high as you can go…Nothing can compare with JESUS…

       2. ABOVE EVERY NAME – the name of jesus is above every person and everything

a. therefore, every knee will bow – on earth, in heaven and in hell…….

        3. JESUS CHRSIT IS LORD – v11

Lord – means one in absolute control…ruler…master

(2.)  PETER DECLARES THAT EVERY BELIEVER MUST MAKE JESUS CHRIST LORD – v15

Sanctify – means to set apart

-we need to set Jesus apart to make Him #1

-in your hearts – our feelings, emotions and thoughts…

                a. MAKING JESUS CHRIST LORD IS A CHOICE

-you can make Him Savior or Savior & Lord…

-Make Jesus #1 and everything else is #2

-Jesus will put His finger on anything in our lives that we have not placed under His Lordship

Example:  THE RICH YOUNG RULER – Mark 10:17-22

v17 – Do – you cannot earn your way to heaven through works

v18 – calling the Lord Good means you are saying Jesus is #1 in your life and that He is God

vs19-21 – if you believe this, you must give up everything and Jesus puts His finger on something in the ruler’s life

v22 – The Ruler turned away

vs23-31

                      b. MAKING JESUS CHRIST LORD IS A PROCESS

—You do not sell out to the Lord all at once

—you get saved all at once and then you grow into Lordship

—It is time to jump into the water all of the way – Ezekiel 47:1-6

v3 – level one – ankle deep

v4 – level two – waist deep

v4 – knee deep

vs5-6 – Go all in and swim — jump all the way into the waters……

***IT IS A CHOICE……..MOVE FORWARD……..

(3.) WE MUST DEFEN THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST – v15

-defending the gospel is apologetics – this is a legal term to defend the true from the false

-Love people but do not love false doctrine

(4.) THE LORD DESCENDED INTO HELL WHEN HE DIED – 1 Peter 3:18-22

v18 – Jesus died once and it will never be repeated

v19 – Jesus then descended into hell

***preached – means to announce and make a proclamation.  This is not evangelism with the intent to see anyone saved.  Once we have died our eternal destination is sealed forever…
