There Is A Famine In The Land Today

 

v24 – the Syrians surrounded Samaria and cut off all food and supplies and food

       -a famine occurred because of the siege

       6:25 – they were hungry and ate anything and everything

 

 

4 STATEMENTS

 

1. THERE IS A FAMINE IN THE LAND TODAY – v25

 

– a spiritual famine – our nation needs the Lord…

 

-during a famine, people will eat anything

 

 

 

2. We are under siege by the enemy – 2 Kings 6:24 & Eph 6:10-18

-it is a slow but sure strategy

 

-modernism, postmodernism, individualism, humanism, secularism, atheism, liberalism

 

 

3. THE LORD USES LEPERS TO GET THE JOB DONE TO DO HIS WORK – 2 Kings 7:3-4

 

-the Lord does not look at our flaws, but at our desire…….

 

-the lepers had 3 things:

 

-a past – v4 – the Lord will use you no matter what your past is like

-the present – change – change something you have been doing

-the future – surrender to what the Lord has for you and move forward 

 

 

 

 

4. A DIVINE INTERVENTION IS COMING – 2 Kings 7:5-6

 

-a divine intervention is coming to earth as described in Rev 19:10-19

 

 

 

 

 

3 Solutions

 

(1) WE MUST INVADE THE ENEMIES CAMP – 2 Kings 7:5

 

4 lepers – represents north, south, east and west

 

-Evangelism –    a. go where people are gathered

 

 

                          b. evangelism is always a winning situation

 

3 possibilities when you witness

-the people accept Jesus as their Savior

-the people can reject Jesus

-seeds can be planted – 1 Cor 3:5-8

 

*when someone rejects Jesus it is still a win win situation – 1 Peter 4:14 & Luke 6:22-23

 

 

 

 

(2) WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GET THE JOB DONE – vs3-5

-check out the words they and we in chapter 7

 

 

Why serve?  -the Lord asks us to

                     -we become more like the Lord

                     -it keeps us from complaining and fault finding

                     -it allows your gifts to function

                     -it allows you to develop friendships

                     -it stops you from being judged by God

                     -it allows you to make a difference in peoples’ lives

 

 

 

(3) WE MUST BE UNITED ON PURPOSE AND MISSION

 

-their mission was that they needed food or they would die

 

-our mission is the Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:18-20
