1 Peter 4:7 – Never Forget

verse 7 – serious or sober or self control – refers to having a clear mind
2 Peter 3:1-2 – Peter uses the words reminder, mind and mindful or recall
-The words mind, reminder, recall, clear and pure minds means to NEVER FORGET
-We are to never forget that Jesus is coming back soon…..2 Peter 3:10-14
All throughout the bible the words never forget or do not forget are used
NEVER FORGET TO PRAISE THE LORD – Psalm 103:1-5
verses 1 – 2  – bless – means to kneel before the Lord and thank & praise Him
this word is used twice in verses 1-2

The word bless speaks of two things:

1. It refers to praising and giving thanks to the Lord for what He has done for us
2. It speaks of a determination to praise the Lord
-I am going to praise the Lord during hard times because the Lord never changes.  He is always good
– I am going to praise the Lord NO MATTER WHAT…
-we will praise the Lord for the good and bad things  – Eph 5:18-21 – this is for what He is doing in us

How Should We Praise The Lord?  There are two ways that David gives to us..

1. With our soul – this is praising Jesus with some emotion
2. With all that is within us
-Praise reveals on the outside what is happening on the inside
-Praise has everything to do with the time we spend with Jesus

3 Principles to follow:

1. Praise is not about us, but about the Lord
2. Praise is obedience to the Word of God
3. Get to know Jesus

Who are we praising? The Lord – Jehovah

1. He is the eternal God – He has always been which means He is the God os the past, present and future
2. He is the covenant keeping God
-He keeps His Word…You can totall depend upon the Lord
His name is holy – it means to be set apart
-Jesus is set apart from any other god, religion or denomination
