Revelation Chapter 12
– Revelation 11:6-11 – the two witnesses
*clothed in sackcloth – v3 – refers to repentance and mourning
*Enoch & Elijah or Elijah and Moses
Revelation 12
MAIN CHARACTERS ARE MENTIONED IN REVELATION 12
1. Woman – is Israel
2. Child – Jesus Christ
3. Dragon – satan
Verse 1 – Sign – means an extraordinary event that points beyond itself
heaven – is the sky
The woman is a great sign
*Sun – represents the exaltation of Jesus
*Moon – Israel will be the head of all nations
*12 stars refer to the 12 tribes of Israel
A Couple Of Points About Israel
1. Antisemitism is on the rise – Matthew 24:1-9
2. Israel will never be eliminated & Jesus will rule and reign in Israel
Zechariah 14:1-9,12-15
Verse 2 – Israel had a child – Jesus Christ
Verse 3 – a red dragon – this refers to satan
-Red – refers to blood and violence – John 10:10
Dragon – the enemy becomes even more fierce in the last days
-he goes from a serpent in Genesis to a lion in 1 Peter to a dragon in Rev
-7 heads and horns – represent power and kingdoms
-7 crowns – satan wants to become God and a king
Verse 4 – The Lord created all of the angels – stars of heaven – Rev 5:11
-The Lord is a God of order and structure
-Michael…Gabriel…Lucifer
-You always follow Jesus and not the person over you.
-The devil and his demons are influencers – Matthew 16:21-24
– Satan – means adversary, which means against
-satan has always wanted to destroy Jesus – Genesis 3:15 & Matthew 2:12-16
-satan has always wanted to destroy Israel
Verse 5 – This is the birth of Jesus
-Israel gave birth to Jesus, meaning Jesus is Jewish – Matthew 24:3-5, 23-27
-Jesus will ascend and return
Verse 6 – Israel flees to Petra in Jordan in the wilderness
-the main reason for us being in the wilderness is to not rely on feelings
Verse 7 – The Lord is organized – the Lord moves in order
-there is a war in heaven between God’s angels and the devil’s angels
-Daniel 10:9-13, 20
Verses 8-9 – The enemy can never prevail unless you let them
-1 John 4:4 & Luke 9:1-2
-The devil has no more access to heaven
Verse 10 – A victory celebration in heaven
The accuser is the devil – means one who is against us
Verse 11 – How do we defeat the accuser?
—Pull down every accusatory thought from your mind – 2 Cor 10:4-5
—Make constant Jesus declarations – Rev 12:11
—Call people to help you – Exodus 17:8-12
The believer is totally loyal to Jesus and not to their own life
