Marriage Principles
1. MARRIAGE IS ONLY BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN
– Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 2:21-24
– Wives refers to a female
– Husbands refers to a male
– There are only 2 genders – Genesis 1:27
– The Lord only chose males and females to be married – Genesis 2:21-24
-Some people have the gift of being single
2. BE NOT UNEQUALLY YOKED
– 1 Peter 3:1 / 2 Corinthians 6:14
Yoked – is an agricultural term – two animals tied together to plow
-It means to be bound together in your most important relationships with someone who does not share your equal values
THE PEOPLE CLOSEST TO YOU DETERMINE YOUR DIRECTION
-You can’t plow straight lines when there is a mismatch – Dt 22:10
-2 Corinthians 6:14 refers to business, marriage, and people
3. LET THE HOLY SPIRIT FIND YOUR SPOUSE
– Genesis 24
– Eliezer is a type of the Holy Spirit
– Eliezer’s name means God has helped
– Your mate will fit you like a glove
– There are many ways to meet someone today, and there is no dating, just courting…
– There is no sex before marriage
4. YOU ARE NOT LEAVING YOUR MARRIAGE
– 1 Peter 3:1
Own – means who you are married to now/a covenant
NEVER LEAVING POINTS
Never use the word separate or divorce
Stop listening to the enemy and flesh
Pull down all negative thoughts
Work on yourself
