Matthew 4:17-22
No one stands still when following Jesus.
No one stays the same when following Jesus.
Following Jesus changes 3 things:
Where you are going.
What has your attention.
What you live for.
Direction. Focus. Identity.
Acts 3:19
1. Repentance changes direction.
Metanoia: a change of mind that results in a change of direction.
Repentance = Uturn
Matthew 6:16-18
2. Fasting changes focus.
Acts 13: 2-3
Fasting removes distractions so we can hear God’s voice.
Romans 6:3-4
3. Baptism declares identity.
Water Baptism is NOT:
-a way to salvation
-washing sin away
-a denomination
-proof of salvation
Matthew 3:13-17
Water Baptism is declaring who you belong to.
