The word called is used 5 times in 1 Peter – 2:9…2:21…3:9…5:10…1:15-16

-called means to personally choose someone for an assignment/to select/call out

-it is also an invitation from the Lord to believers

-A call to BE HOLY – it means to be set apart/separated/sanctified

God

-The Lord is Holy – 1 Peter 1:15

-He is totally set apart from sin and evil & is purity and light

The Believer

-Be is to become – means to be set apart and separated

-this is positional and practical

-this is becoming more like Jesus

-this is a process

-this is the will of God – 1 Thess 4:3

          How are believers set apart?

WE ARE SET APART BY THE HOLY SPIRIT – Genesis One

1. The Holy Spirit is God in action on Earth – Genesis 1:1-3

verse 1 – God has always been  – in the beginning

             – God is Elohim and plural revealing the trinity

             -There is only one God – 1 Tim 2:5 & Deut 6:4

The Holy Spirit is God in action – hovering means is always on the move

The Holy Spirit also talks to us – Genesis 1:1-10 – God said

-He is always with us

darkness – something evil happened and the Holy Spirit intervened

Genesis 1:3-4, 9 – light from darkness…land and water

-The Holy Spirit speaks to us and sets us apart from sin, evil & wickedness

-Conviction – John 16:7-11

     ***conviction means to convince – it is a legal term of cross-examining a witness until they plead guilty

     ***it is a firm gentle inner prompting and uneasiness.  It is correction

                The One Who Spoke In Genesis Is Still Speaking Today

-This causes pride and goes against God’s principles

-it causes self-reliance
