Revelation Chapter 4
Verse 1 – After these things – this is after the church age
God is a God of order, and every event in Revelation follows an orderly sequence
The door in heaven is open – salvation is for everyone – 2 Peter 3:9
Rapture – means catching away – 1 Thess 4:13-18
There are 3 Rapture Ideas – Pre, Mid, and Post tribulation
There is a rapture to deal with Israel – Jeremiah 30:7
All born-again believers go in the rapture – Isaiah 26:20
Verse 2 – Throne is the keyword in Revelation chapter 4
Verse 3 – A description of Jesus
1. Jasper – crystal clear – represents purity and presence
2. Sardius – is red like fire – is the fire of God to redeem us
3. Rainbow – represents a covenant-keeping God – Genesis 9:11-17
– Mostly emerald in color, which speaks of new life
Verse 4 – Around The Throne – 24 Elders
-The words 24 Elders refer to those who are saved
-12 tribes of Israel (OT) and 12 disciples (NT)
-On thrones – refers to the church serving Jesus for all eternity
-Crowns are thrown back to the Lord and are earned for service – Rev 4:10
Verse 5 – Lightning and Thunder – indicates a coming storm
-It’s stormy now across the world
The 7 spirits of God represent the 7 qualities of the Holy Spirit and here reveal that even during the tribulation and God’s judgment, the Holy Spirit will be moving
Verse 6 – a sea of glass – represents total peace and calm
Phil 4:6-8 – NOTHING HAS TO DISTURB YOUR PEACE
Verses 6-8 – 4 Living Creatures
-They are some kind of angelic creation of God – Hebrews 1:14
–An army of angels has eyes on us all of the time and ministers to us
Verse 7 –
Lion – represents strength
Calf – represents service
Man – represents intelligence
Eagle – represents swiftness
Verses 8-11 – day and night, we should praise the Lord
Worthy – v11 – means to deserve something
REVELATION CHAPTER 5
Verse 1 – This is God the Father
Rev 5:8 – He is the Lord God Almighty
-This means supreme sovereignty – Daniel 4:35 & Psalm 135:6
-It means the #1 authority
-It means He is omnipotent – all-powerful – Jeremiah 32:17
THRONE – He is the Boss and is in charge
The Father has a scroll or book in His right hand
-Right hand signifies strength
The scroll refers to the title deed of the earth that the enemy has now because humanity sinned
Verse 2 – a strong angel – speaks loudly/shouts out
-The search is on to find someone to take the scroll & restore and redeem the earth
Verses 3-4 – John cries as no one comes forward
Verse 5 – BUT there is hope – BUT GOD – Ephesians 2:1-10 – BUT GOD
-The elders – born again believers in heaven – tell John not to cry because there is someone who can redeem and restore humanity and the earth – Jesus
2 Names for Jesus
1. The Lion of the tribe of Judah – v5 – represents strength and power
2. The Root of David – verse 5 Jesus is King
Verse 6 – Jesus is in the midst of heaven. He needs to be in the middle of everything
-7 horns – refers to power – 7 is the # of completeness – Jesus has complete and total power
Jesus has 7 eyes – Jesus sees everything – the Holy Spirit is in the middle of everything – 7 spirits of God
Verse 7 – Jesus takes the scroll – He is the only Redeemer of humanity
Verses 8-9 – 24 elders – refers to all believers, and a heavenly choir sings out
Golden bowl of incense – Incense refers to prayer, and when prayers are answered, the bowl tips over and sends the answer to Earth
Verse 9 – a new song is the song of redemption
Verse 10 – The Lord made us kings and priests
Verses 11 – 12 – the number of angels cannot be numbered
Praise the Lord out loud – everyone is praising
-Worthy – Jesus deserves to be praised
Verse 13 – this verse goes along with Phil 2:5-11
Verse 14 – fell down and worshipped – means to reverence, adore, bow, and lay down in front of someone
