Sermon Notes 4/26 – Submission – 1 Peter 2:13-18

SUBMISSION

Verse 18 – submission is a military term meaning to yield to the will of another/to arrange in order

Submission Points

-the word will means purpose/desire/wish/destiny/plan

-The will of God is found in the Word of God – the will of God is to submit

-For such is the will of God – means there is no questioning or anything to debate when it comes to submitting to authority

-We are not always going to feel like submitting

-After salvation, we become obedient children of God

ACT LIKE YOU ARE SAVED – by being submissive to authority – v16

As we submit:

1. It is a sign we are saved – Verse 16 – Servants of GOD

-We are doing what is right – Verse 15

2. It silences some people – Verses 12,15

-People see our character through submission and r saved and changed

3. The Lord is satisfied and pleased

– Verses 19-20 commendable (pleased).

The Lord is pleased with our behavior, and He rewards us

-To the position and not to the person

Good – means kind – fair

Bad – means unreasonable – harsh – cruel – warped

What can we do as believers to remain submissive & have a submissive heart:

Commendable – please – thankworthy – these words refer to a divine empowering grace the Lord gives us when we are under a heavy load

REMEMBER: If the Lord brought me to it, He will see me through it

Paul and the thorn in the flesh – 2 Cor 12:1-7

-We are going to praise the Lord & obey the Word of God & develop a submissive heart

Staying power produces blessings and rewards

-The Lord is trying to do something in us that is more important than doing something through us

-Devil means to slander

-The enemy is totally involved in not being submissive and being in rebellion, and he tempts us to be like him.

We become like the enemy when we are not submissive, and we cannot resist him because we are like him.
