1 Peter 2:10-15

Verse 10 – Since being saved, we are now the people of God

-The mercy of God – is a deep-seated compassion for people and is an action word- it means to stoop, lift and bring about a solution

Verse 11 – Beloved – dear friends – this is a deep love for all believers
-Since we are saved, we need to be different

STRANGERS & SOJOURNERS
-These two words refer to people who are temporary residents from another country who settle down among unbelievers to tell them about Jesus

-People notice when someone is from another country

SOME BIBLE PRINCIPLES TO FOLLOW

1. WE MUST ABSTAIN FROM FLESHLY DESIRES – verse 11
-The Lord will do His part, but the believer has responsibilities also

abstain – means to continually make an intentional decision to deliberately stay away from and put a distance between oneself and someone else

All believers are at war with the flesh……our #1 enemy

The flesh is a part of our old life that stays in us even after we are saved.

Fleshly desires are cravings & desires that go against the Word & Jesus

-The flesh will always exist

-Demons exist and can easily be resisted – James 4:7

-The flesh talks – wages war against our mind and emotions

THERE IS ONLY ONE STRATEGY TO DEFEAT THE FLESH – Galatians 5:16
– Defeating the flesh is daily, continual, a discipline, work, takes time, and never stops

– But if we continually walk in the Spirit, the flesh will be defeated

1 PETER 2:12 – WALKING IN THE SPIRIT PRODUCES GREAT BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT
John 15 – this is spending daily time with Jesus Christ

REMEMBER – Doing comes out of Being

Having your conduct means to make sure we are continuing to yo live properly, that we possess the right living

-We are to examine ourselves – Matthew 7:15 & Philippians 2:13

Among – have good behavior in every situation among unbelievers (gentiles)

Honorable – our lives ned to be attractive/to be the highest quality/exceptional

Evil Doers – people who are harmful…poisonous…rotten and wicked

Good Works – what we say and do

Observe – we are under the microscope
People will be saved because of what we say and how we behave
