What are we going to do, given that we know we are in the last days and that Jesus Christ is coming back soon?

1. DON’T RELAX SPIRITUALLY

Ephesus – means to relax…be complacent…they lost their edge
Christianity is continuing and sustaining our walk
-continue means to remain…stay…persevere
-John 8:31-32…John 15:9…Col 1:23…Col 4:2…Heb 13:1-2

CONTINUING SOMETHING IS SUSTAINING SOMETHING

LEVITICUS 6:12-13 – this refers to keeping the fire of God burning in our lives
-throw a log on the fire
-Sustained Fellowship = Sustained Fire
-Do not become a hot tub Christian

2. DO NOT LOSE YOUR FIRST LOVE

– Revelation 2:4-5
-it actually says – “THE FIRST ONE”
-Jesus always needs to be first
Examples:  Mark 10:17-27 – the Rich Young Ruler
                   Genesis 22:1-12
Left – does not refer to abandonment, but to release something you once held to be very special and was close to your heart
HOW DID EPHESUS LOSE THEIR FIRST LOVE?
vs2-3 – they were too busy with church activities
-They pushed to the side the daily time we spend with Jesus
-the Lord sees our works
works and labor – it is hard, tiring, and exhausting work
Verse 2 – Ephesus stood against evil and false apostles
How do we get our first love back? — Revelation 2:5
1. REMEMBER – what you used to be like when you were on fire for Jesus
2. REPENT – change your mind & turn back to Jesus
3. RETURN – return to your first works – this is spending daily time with Jesus
Verse 7 – pay close attention to everything the Holy Spirit is saying
Paradise of God – is heaven
Overcomes – this refers to those who are saved and remain faithful to Jesus, no matter what
Tree of Life – represents eternal life
