GROW – 1 Peter 2
1 Peter 1:18-19 & 1:23 – we are born again through the blood of Jesus and
the word of the Lord
GROW – means to grow further/have forward motion
How To Grow Spiritually
WE NEED TO MAKE A DECISION TO MAKE CHRISTIANITY AND JESUS THE #1 PRIORITY IN OUR LIVES – Matthew 6:33
A. When Jesus and Christianity are our priority issues fall off of us
Malice – anything that would hurt someone
Hypocrisy – someone who pretends to be something they are not/ an actor
Envy – wanting something someone else has/hold a grudge
Evil Speaking – speech that puts down/degrades/disrespectful
B. When Jesus & Christianity is out priority, we are not open to receiving false teaching – v2
newborn – a child just born
desire – means to crave/an intense desire/hungry for the Bible
Pure Word – means nothing dishonest, deceitful, or false
The opposite is impure – this is a picture of taking bait that is hidden
C. When Jesus & Christianity are our priority, we learn who the Lord is – 1 Peter 2:3-5 and Psalm 34:1-8
THE LORD IS GOOD
verse 1 – David said he would praise the Lord NO MATTER WHAT
vs2-3 – David will boast in the Lord – this is outloud and vocal
vs4-8 – Taste and See that the Lord is good
1 Peter 2:3 says the Lord is gracious
-taste means to evaluate and try
good – means compassionate/kind/gentle/helpful & gracious
The Lord does not change because our circumstance changes
The Lord’s goodness is His nature, core, and essence
DO NOT STUMBLE – 1 Peter 2:8
Declare that the Lord is good
The Lord is chosen – 1 Peter 2:4
coming to Him – means to draw near or close/forward motion/James the team 4:8
Chosen – means Jesus is the only person who could be the Savior of the world
Chosen means to be picked out – Phil 2:5-11
