Sermon Notes 5/1 – Zechariah
ZECHARIAH
verse 9 – this is a command from the Lord
v10a – Receive the Gift is a command
verse 10 – Receive the gift is a command – is a financial gift to help build the temple
-3 businessmen –
Heldai – means the Lord’s world
Tobijah – means the goodness of God
Jedaiah – means praise the Lord
-These businessmen heard the Lord tell them to give and they obeyed
They were gracious givers – verse 11 (silver and gold)
-they obeyed the voice of the Lord to give – be led by the Spirit – Romans 8:14
Malachi – the word test means to hold Jesus to His Word
Giving is an act of obedience – verse v15
-1 Peter 1:14
-all we have belongs to the Lord
-blessings come from benevolence – Phil 4:19
Giving is to the Lord – 6:11 (Leviticus 27:30)
-Joshua is a type of Jesus Christ
-The Lord always gets His tithe – Mal 3:10
verse 12 – Jesus is the Branch
-branch refers to fruitfulness
***Jesus has branches out to earth at the cross
***Jesus has branched out through us
***Jesus will branch out at His return
vs12b-13 – Jesus will rule the entire world
v13 – Jesus gives counsel and wisdom – go to Him first
vs14-15 – Giving is an eternal investment and Return
-these 3 businessmen gave to the Lord for the temple
-we saw what their investment and giving produced
-memorial m – this will be remembered forever and passed down from generation to generation
ZECHARIAH 7
verse 1 – this chapter occurs two years later. Things are starting to turn around
for the Jewsih people and the nation of Israel
verses 2-3 – be careful when blessings begin to enter into your life
v3 – they wanted to know if they should continue to fast

Never wait for trouble to get close to Jesus
The good times in our lives can become our greatest enemy
