Sermon Notes 4/24 – Zechariah 6

Zechariah 6
-Zechariah 6:1-8 – is the 8th and last vision given to Zechariah

verse 1 – Zechariah sees 4 chariots between 2 mountains

1. One mountain is Mount Zion – which is inside the walls of Jerusalem
2. Mountain 2 is the Mount of Olives which is on the outside of the walls of Jerusalem

bronze – bronze represents in the Bible the judgment of God

verse 2-3 – the 4 chariots represent the 4 corners of the earth
-v1 – they are ready to come for those who have rejected Jesus Christ
-they affect everyone on earth

-the people of God are not under the judgment of God
***1 Thess 5:1-11 – we are not under the wrath of God
***1 Thess 1:6-10 – the wrath of God comes during the 7 year tribulation period

——-the 4 chariots point to the seal judgments in Revelation chapter 6

Rev 6:1-2 – White Horse – is the antichrist who conquers through peace
Rev 6:3-4 – Red Horse – represents war
Rev 6:5-6 – Black Horse – famine and inflation
Rev 6:7-8 – The Speckled…Spotted or Pale Horse
—John sees 2 things:
1. death is riding on a horse – 2 billion people die
2. hell follows the horse and swallows up the unsaved

Remember: Everyone has a chance to hear the gospel and be saved

verse 4-5 – The 4 spirits are 4 angels – sent out by God to do His will

verse 6 – 2 enemies of Israel:
North Country – Babylon
South Country – Egypt

verse 7 – the judgment of God will hit the entire arth

v8 – rest – means to satisfy – the Lord is satisfied that His plan will be fulfilled

***There is now a shift from the 8 visions to general words from the Lord

vs 9-10 – a command is given

v10 – the command is to receive the gift
-3 businessmen are mentioned in verse 10 – they came from captivity in Babylon and they are giving finances to help build the temple. Zechariah is to receive their finances

v11 – when we give we are giving to the Lord
—as we give the Lord provides – Phil 4:19

v12 – a description of Jesus is given
Branch – speaks of producing life
a. Jesus will branch out to give life
b. He will branch out from heaven to return to earth
c. Jesus will branch out through us

v13 – this is building up the lives of people
bear His glory – Jesus will display His glory as He rules and reigns
-Jesus will give advice which results in peace

vs14-15 – Giving is a memorial
-this is a ministry you have invested in that will be remembered forever – because of the impact of that ministry – and generations after you will give also
