Sermon Notes 4/13 – The Lamb of God

The Lamb of God

                             John 1:19-36 (vs 29,36)
The Lamb of God is Jesus Christ
Lamb means a pet lamb, one who is gentle, kind and tender
Jesus takes away the sin of the world
-this is the sin nature of every human being
-take away – means to break the power of something/to remove power out of the way
***at salvation, the power of sin is broken
SINCE JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY OUR SIN & SAVES US:
1.) FOCUS ON JESUS
-v29 – behold – to get someones attention – focus only on Jesus Christ
STAY FOCUSED AND AMAZE YOURSELF
2.) ONLY EAT LAMB AND NOT LAMB STEW – Exodus 12:1-11
-spiritual lamb stew – is mixing Jesus & Christianity with every other faith
-we only want Lamb -= its tasty and good – “Taste and see that the Lord is good”
-v5 a lamb of the first year is the most tender and tasty lamb to eat
***THERE ARE OTHER THINGS THAT COME ALONG WITH THE LAMB
Exodus 12:8-10
v8 – ROASTED – the lamb was roasted which refers to God’s judgment being placed on the lamb and not on His people
vs9-10 – do not eat it raw – raw meat was associated with Egypts false gods.  Burn any leftover lamb so the idolaters would noty mix lamb with their sacrifices
v8 – Bitter Herbs – refers to the problems, trials and difficulties of life
-problems are not ifs but whens
-Jesus & Christianity does not eliminate problems, but gets us through them
v8 – unleavened bread – leaven represents sin in the Bible.  Being saved means we do not continually sin
v9 – No water  – we are not to water down the gospel…….we want all of Jesus and His word
Head – is the mind and will of Jesus
Insides – we need the heart of God
Legs – our walk changes as we eat the Lamb
v11 – share the Lamb with everyone
3.) PRAISE THE LAMB – Revelation 5:8-14 & Luke 19:37-40
-Revelaton 5 is in heaven
-Why is praise and worship so loud – because Jesus is worthy
Worthy – means to deserve something – Jesus deserve to be praised
Luke 19:37-40 – HANG OUT WITH PRAISERS
-Jesus never admonishes, rebukes or reprimands the praisers
-Remember – COMPLAIN & REMAIN OR PRAISE AND BE RAISED
