Sermon Notes 12/8 – A Heavenly Announcement

                                 Luke 2:22-35

                  A HEAVENLY ANNOUNCEMENT

A Heavenly Announcement came to SIMEON…from the Holy Spirit – v26

              ***The Holy Spirit is a Spirit of Revelation

Revelation – means to disclose/make known/to take the lid off

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALED THAT WE NEED TO SEE JESUS IN CHRISTMAS – Luke 2:21-26

v21 – circumcision for every male Jewish baby according to the law of Moses

vs22-24 – The presentation of Jesus Christ done 40 days after His birth – a time of dedication to God

v25 – the Holy Spirit revealed to SIMEON that he needed to see the Lord’s Christ

             MAKE CHRISTMAS GODS DAY AND NOT A SECULAR DAY

The Consolation of Israel – v25 – the One who takes away grief, loss and pain

                                                  -the One who brings comfort, peace and joy

                                                  -the One who delivers and rescues us

The birth of Jesus was a Miraculous Virgin Birth

The Holy Spirit will do what He wants to do and how He wants to do it……Hab 1:1-6

                 The Holy Spirit is without limits……

2. REVELATION COMES THROUGH THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – v27

-the Holy Spirit spoke and gave Simeon a promise

-Simeon had to wait on the promise to be fulfilled – v25

          waiting – v25 – means to have a daily spirit of expectation

          the promise was fulfilled in church – in the temple – v27 – some things will only happen at church……Acts 2:1-21
