Sermon Notes 11/14 – Mark 8

vs1-9 – Jesus feeds thousands of people

-Jesus had great compassion for people – Mark 6:34/Mark 1:40-42/Matthew 9:36-38

vs10-12 – Do not seek healing and miracles.  Only Seek Jesus.

                   v12 – Jesus sighs because of their unbelief

verse 13 – Jesus left them – Jesus is attracted to faith and not unbelief

Jesus surrounded Himself with faith people – only His disciples got into the boat

***Faith people have present faith – Revelation 1:8

-this is a NOW faith

***Faith people create an atmosphere for God to move – Mark 5:21-24 & 5:35-6:1

-a faith atmosphere is a certain atmosphere

-a faith atmosphere expects

               ***look at the Lord’s track record

-a faith removes all unbelief – Acts 9:32-40 & Mark 8:22-26

Mark 8:13-21 – Leaven

v13 – we will make it to the other side

-the Lord provides at all times

v15 – charged or warn – this is continual action/Jesus continually warned them

***the principle of reminding is an important Bible principle – 2 Peter 1:12-25

***Jesus warned them continually about leaven

Take Heed – have some discernment/think things through/have common sense

Beware – means to watch out – v15

Leaven – represents sin, corruption, evil and things that are false

*the disciples thought Jesus was talking about food, but the lesson was about leaven

The Leaven of the pharisees and Herod – was pride…false doctrine…unbelief and things that corrupt

The Leaven of the Sadducees is the denial of the supernatural aspect of Christianity –  Acts 23:8

Leaven cannot be seen, but it is working and causes bread to rise slow but sure

Leaven is working today in an attempt to deceive people to reject or push to the side the supernatural part of Christianity

                                     Mark 8:22-26

                             The Blind Man Is Healed

v22 – Jesus is involved in conflict with the religious leaders

-We will be involved with conflict – don’t run or get your way – work through it

-Keep moving forward

-Keep on grinding

-Keep fellowshipping

-Bring people to Jesus to get them saved  and healed……..power evangelism works – Luke 9:1-6

-Healing can take place over time – vs23-27

v26 – go home and not back to the village

1. Jesus had already been in this area & was rejected & they walked in unbelief

2. Jesus was saying to go where there is fruit – dont settle – there’s more people who need Jesus
