Sermon Notes 9/29 – How to Make it Through the Storms of Life

                              Matthew 8:23-27 and Mark 6:45-50

-No one is exempt from going through a storm

              3 Ways How We Can Make It Through A Storm –  3 P’s

1. PEOPLE – Proverbs 18:24

-we all need friends and community

-we cannot live this life alone

-Even Jesus needed people around Him

2. Promises – Psalm 34:17-20

-Realize the promises of God work and are true

Provision – the provision of strength

-Receiving strength is a promise from the Lord – Psalm 28:7

-Philippians 4:13 – the Lord will infuse us with strength

Another Promise – PRESENCE – The Lord is always with us – Isaiah 41:10

-Joshua 1:9…Deut 31:6…Matt 28:18-20…Psalm 139:1-7

***WE NEED TO LEARN TO SEE WHAT WE CANNOT SEE***

-Keep our focus on Jesus Christ – do not be distracted – Mark 6:48-51

-Storms make us uncomfortable –

***We must come to grips with the truth that Jesus is up to something far more

important than our comfort***

DANGER: is that we connect comfort to God’s character…..

-Storms bring out our issues and weaknesses……

REMEMBER: Some bad storms will affect our lives and we cannot think that nothing bad will ever happen to us..

(3.) POWER – we need the power of God

***WE NEED TO BELIEVE WHEN THINGS ARE UNBELIEVABLE***

*When things are unbelievable, we still need to believe in the Lord because we have an unbelievable God who can do anything…

Mark 6:50 – IT IS I – this means I am the Great I Am and I am with you…

***The Lord will always get the job done some how and some way…
