Sermon Notes 9/7 – The Mighty Works of God

(1.) ONLY FOLLOW JESUS – Luke 4:5-8

-Follow Jesus and not what He can give for you

-Do not follow signs and wonders. Signs and wonders are to follow us

-Do not follow miracles.  Follow the miracle worker

Following Jesus is following God – only worship Jesus – Jesus receives worship

Because Jesus is God He can do anything

              —Jesus healed this man of an incurable disease

              —Jesus saved this man – touching the leper represents Jesus taking on

                      this mans sins and saving him

(2.) IT IS THE LORDS DESIRE TO HEAL US – Matthew 8:2-3

-The Lord is so good and wants to heal – John 10:10

The Lord desires to heal us through His blood – 1 Peter 2:24

The Lord desires to heal us through His Words – Psalm 107:20

The Lord desires to hal us through His love – Psalm 147:3

The Lord desires to heal us through His name – Exodus 15:26

THE LORDS DESIRE TO HEAL US IS FOR TODAY – Hebrews 13:8 & Mal 3:6

-cessationists – means to come to an end

-Healing and miracles are for today

THE LORDS DESIRE TO HEAL US IS BASED ON A PROMISE

Deuteronomy 7:12-16 and Psalm 89:34-35

-the Lord says YES to His promises – 2 Cor 1:20

(3.) HEALING INTERRUPTIONS CAN HINDER OUR HEALING – Exodus 15:22-27

-our personal issues can hinder our healing

-the leper had many issues that needed to be removed first before the healing came

Exodus 15:22-27

-Marah means bitter

-Israel became bitter

-bitter – means to be sour…having a rough disagreeable acid taste in your life…it is discontentment…growing harsh and unpleasant

v25 – Moses throws the tree into the bitter waters of Marah & they become sweet

The tree represents the cross.  Jesus and the cross can take away your bitterness and make you sweet.

v27 – the Lord blessed Israel in Elim as they were delivered from their bitterness
