Sermon Notes 8/4 – Praise

(1.) PRAISE WHEN THERE IS NO UNDERSTANDING – Acts 3:1-2 & 4:22

-we can get stuck when it comes to praise and worship

-we only praise the Lord when things are good

-we need to praise the Lord when we do not have understanding

-Proverbs 3:5-6

-We need to praise the Lord for difficult times – Eph 5:18-20 – stay filled up with the Holy Spirit – this is praising the Lord for what He is doing in us and through us

(2.) PRAISE ACKNOWLEDGES THE REALITY OF WHO GOD ALREADY IS  – Isaiah 9:6

-the Bible tells us who God is

-we worship a God we cannot exaggerate – The Lord is beyond anything we could express

       1, We praise the Lord for who He is & that He never changes – Malachi 3:6

              PRAISE DOES NOT CHANGE THE LORD.  PRAISE CHANGES US…

—Psalm 89:5-16

       2. How we praise is determined by how well we know the One we praise

-when we really know who this Jesus is, we can’t contain ourselves

         THE LORD IS WORTHY OF OUR PRAISE ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DAY IT IS

   THERE ARE 2 LIES OF THE ENEMY WHICH WILL TRY TO HINDER OUR PRAISE

1. The enemy tries to convince us to remove our emotions from our expressions of praise

2. The enemy causes us to value our self image more highly than authentic praise that honors God
