Sermon Notes 2/25 – Samson
Judges 16:28-31
-Samson was a judge of Israel for 20 years
-Samson is a prophetic picture of the church
-a Bible principle the church needs to get back to:
THE CHURCH NEEDS TO GET BACK TO THE SUPERNATURAL
ASPECT OF CHRISTIANITY – Mark 1:21-41
***THE CHURCH DOES NOT EXIST TO LEAVE THINGS THE WAY THEY ARE***
1. TO GET BACK TO THE SUPERNATURAL ASPECT OF CHRISTIANITY, WE MUST PRAY TO GODS LIMITS AND NOT OURS – Mark 1:21-41
– this means the Lord can do anything
a. To pray to Gods’ Limits — we must place our faith in the Lord to believe
that the Lord can do everything and anything – EVEN IF HE DOESN’T
***Watch out for the enemy of Doubt
-there is good doubt which can keep us safe
-there is bad doubt which the enemy uses against us and places in our minds
b. to pray to Gods limits
HOLD THE LORD TO HIS WORD AND HIS WORD WILL TAKE HOLD OF YOU
***1 Thessalonians 5:24 & Ephesians 3:20
-The Lord is saying that the supernatural power & presence of the Lord is for today
-We must know that the supernatural presence of the Lord is for today – Mal 3:6 & Heb 13:8
-Do not put out the fire of God – 1 Thessalonians 5:19
-this is a command
-to extinguish a fire
-smother it until it dries up
-Paul was saying not to ignore, hinder or try to stop the moving of the Holy Spirit and the supernatural presence of the Lord
2 Samuel 6
-2 Samuel 6 refers to the ark of God or the ark of the Covenant
***the ark represents the presence and glory of God & means box or chest
***God commanded Moses to build it 400 years before David
***it was overlaid with gold which represents that Jesus Christ is God
***the ark contained one main item – the Word of God which were the ten commandments
-we need the Word and the Spirit together
***the ark had two angels looking down at it – represents the focus is on the Lord & nothing else
***there was a seat – the mercy seat – which represents the throne of Go which is where He sits
2 Samuel 6
verses 1-2 – David brings the ark back to Jerusalem
v3 – Abinidab – the ark was in his house for 20 years
v3 – a new cart – the church does not need anything new today. We have Jesus & thats enough
-the Lord’s Word said to carry the ark and not use oxen to pull it
-we have the pattern for the church and do not need anything new
v3 – Uzzah & Ahio – 2 sons of Abinadab – lead the cart along
Uzzah – means strength
Ahio – means friendly
***This represents the church being led by its own strength and attractiveness while the glory of God is in the background and out of sight
verses 4-6 – they had worship and religious activities going on
-the glory of God had departed and they did not even know it – Judges 16:20
-the threshing floor separates the grain from the chaff. What Israel was doing meant nothing to the Lord
vs6-7 – the oxen stumble – the church is stumbling
-Uzzah reaches out to try to hinder the movement of the Lords presence
-We should never try to hinder or stop the supernatural presence and power of the Holy Spirit
