Sermon Notes 11/30 – The Holy Spirit

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALL IN WHEN IT COMES TO CHRISTMAS – Matt 1:18-25

—Christmas is about the virgin birth of Jesus Christ

—Jesus never sinned and is the only way to heaven

—2 Corinthians 5:21 & Hebrews 4:15

—Isaiah 59:15-19 – The Incarnation – 1 Timothy 2:1-7

2. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON AND GOD – Jn 16:13-14 & Acts 5:1-5

-the Holy Spirit is not just a force or energy or feelings

-the Holy Spirit is always standing by us – Mark 6:45-48

-The Holy Spirit is God – Acts 5:1-5

3. THE HOLY SPIRIT PROVIDES – 2 Peter 1:21

-the Holy Spirit led men what to write concerning the Bible

-Luke 2:22 – Marty was poor and offered the poor persons offering

    ***the Lord provided gold for her and her family  – Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11, 13-15 and 19-21

    ***Provision can take some time to receive

-The star represents the Holy Spirit

                        a. The Holy Spirit produces great joy through abiding – John 15:11

-great joy is a fruit and not a feeling or emotion

-it is the responsibility of every believer to develop and grow Great Joy

-nothing can take this great joy from you unless you stop abiding

                       b. Great Joy is not always felt – Nehemiah 8:10

-the Holy Spirit gives us supernatural strength during difficult times

                       c. Pursue joy and not happiness – Romans 14:17 & 1 Thess 5:16-21

-only Jesus will give you great joy

-Joy is attractive

-Jesus attracted people because of His joy

Jesus was invited to parties:

        Luke 5:29-39 – Matthews party

       John 2:1-7 – A wedding – wine represents joy in these scriptures

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCES GREAT JOY – Matt 2:10 & Luke 2:10
