Sermon Notes 1/19 – The Last Days
(1.) THE LAST DAYS FOCUS IS ON THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST – Micah 4:1-3
-Jesus is coming back and stand on the Word concerning this
-the last days started at the ascension & resurrection of Jesus – Acts 1:9-11
-2 Peter 3
verses 1-2 – the principle of repetition is to teach the same principles at times
-stirring us all up – means to fully wake up
– a pure & sincere mind – get everything out of you remind that says the return of the Lord is not going to happen. There is false teachings to avoid
verse 3 – Scoffer – someone who mocks & treats lightly serious things/laughing @ people
verse 4 – this is the argument of the scoffer
-Jesus has not shown up yet
-coming – this is a personal visible return of Jesus – Revelation 1:7
vs5-6 – the scoffers ignore the past & Noah’s flood
v7 – the next judgment will not be by water, but by fire
vs8-9 – why is there a delay in the coming of Jesus?
-the Lord is patient and wants everyone to be saved
verses 10- 11, 12b – The day of the Lord – the return of the Lord – is certain to happen
like a thief – suddenly/no time to get ready
what else will take place – the heavens will pass away and change – not annihilated
-the works in it are the works of humanity like buildings & inventions
verse 11 – the world will all be restored – Jesus is in the restoring business
What kind of people should we be? We should live a godly & holy life…
verse 12 – Looking For – to expect and wait for/a sense of anticipation
hastening – means to desire earnestly
-this is being involved with the harvest which makes time go faster
verse 13 – Promise – there are many promises about the return of Jesus – Jn 14:1-3
The church needs to pray. Our voice matters – Psalm 116:1-2…….
—the word for inclined means to turn and bend down to hear
2 PRAYER POINTS:
(1.) WE MUST REALIZE THE LORD LIMITS HIMSELF TO THE PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH – Ps 115:3 & 135:6
(2.) WE HAVE A PATTERN AND MODEL TO FOLLOW FOR THE CHURCH WHEN IT COMES TO PRAYER – Acts 1:9-14
