Sermon Notes 12/4 – The Gift of Peace

*LUKE 2:8-16 (V14)

*John 14:27

*John 16:33

Peace – means to join yourself to something or someone which gives you quiet, rest, and calmness

John Chapters 14-20 – is The Farewell Discourse of Jesus – His final words to the disciples.  Jesus uses the word peace 6 times…..

*We can have peace at all times

*The source of peace is Jesus – John 16:33 & John 14:27 (this is one of the main points of the message)

*Only Jesus gives true and continual peace

*We need more than momentary peace – we need forever peace and it’s only found in Jesus

*The Lord’s name is Peace – the Prince of Peace – Isaiah 9:6

verse 6 – To Us  A Child Is Born  – for our benefit – Psalm 103:1-5

Jesus is Wonderful

Jesus is Counselor

Jesus is the Mighty God

Jesus is the Everlasting Father

Jesus is the PRINCE OF PEACE

verse – The peace of the Lord will last forever

*Peace Rules – Colossians 3:15 (this is one of the main points of the message)

rule – means to be an umpire – it is a sports term

How can peace rule?

1. PEACE RULES THROUGH DECLARATION – Romans 5:1-5

-declarations:  I have peace……I am in Christ……..I am a Peaceful person

Peace can rule you or something else will……

2. PEACE RULES AS WE SPEND TIME WITH JESUS EVERY DAY – Romans 14:17

-Increase your peace

-The Lord is Holy – Isaiah 6:1-3

-Holiness means Jesus is God and He is always right and faultless

The Lord’s character never changes because our situation does……
