Sermon Notes 8/21 – Shake It Off

                           SHAKE OFF THE ENEMY

                                  Acts 28:1-11a, 16

Acts 21-28 is a 2 year period of time in Paul’s life & full of trials and hardships

-Paul did not complain or quit following Jesus for 2 reasons:

(1.) PAUL WAS READY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING 2 ALL TIMES – Phil 3:10 & Acts 9:16

-Paul stayed full of Jesus

-Part of the promise to Paul was suffering

(2.) PAUL SERVED A GOD WHO IS READY FOR ANYTHING AT ANY TIME – Mark 1:23-28

-the word rebuke is used in Mark 1:23-28 and Mark 4: 35-41 – it shows that the enemy was involved in the storm in Mark 4

-we can shake the enemy off and all of his strategies – shake off lies, oppression, fear & anxiety, unbelief and doubt

               HOW CAN WE SHAKE OFF THE ENEMY

(1.) WE CAN SHAKE OFF THE ENEMY WHEN WE REALIZE WHO THE ENEMY IS —- Ephesians 6:12

                 ***DEMONS – THEY COME FROM THE FIRE AND ARE GOING BACK TO THE FIRE

                    ——-NEVER MAKE THE BATTLE PERSONAL

          REVELATION 9:1-7

                  A. Demons come out of the fire

-verse1 – the 5th trumpet judgment is in the future

-a star falls from heaven – this is satan – Apollyon which means destroyer (v11)…

-fallen is in the past tense which means he has already fallen – Lk 10:1-11, 16-20

-this proves the existence of satan

verse 2 – the bottomless pit is hell – where demons live – Lk 8:27-31

verse 3 – these are demon forces and not real locusts

                 B. Demons are going back into the fire – Revelation 20:1-3, 7-10

-Acts 28 – Paul shakes the snake off into the fire which represents hell

(2.) WE CAN SHAKE OFF THE ENEMY THROUGH THE 2 A’S —- Authority and Anointing

Authority – Luke 10:19…Acts 28:5 (Paul suffered no harm)

-demons cannot harm you unless you allow them to

-when you sense a demonic attack, throw the first punch

-take authority over the enemy in the name of Jesus

Anointing – Acts 10:38

-Anointing means to rub & smear with oil – it is the presence of the Lord that comes upon us when we serve

-nothing from the enemy will stick to us when we are under the anointing of the Holy Spirit

                        Revelation 9:1-7

         DEMONS COME FROM THE FIRE AND RETURN TO THE FIRE
