                                  FIRST CORINTHIANS 12

1. WE ARE NOT TO BE IGNORANT ABOUT THE 9 SPIRITUALS – verse 1

Ignorant – means to be uneducated/not informed/to have a lack of knowledge

-we come up with our own thoughts

-we must study and read the Bible when it comes to the spirituals 1 John 2:24-27

verse 2 – YOU WERE – this refers to when they were unsaved

-the spirituals helped in bringing them to Jesus Christ

-the spirituals are to help get people saved

verse 3 – Verse 3 speaks about putting the Lord down or lifting Him up

***When something is from the Lord, is lifts people up

-this is the same for the spirituals – 1 Corinthians 14:3-4

verses 4-6 – the Trinity is in these verses

v4 – Holy Spirit

v5 – Lord – Jesus

v6 – God – the Father

Trinity verses: Matthew 3:13-17 & Genesis 2:26

        ***Verses 4-6 speaks of 2 Things:

(1.) v4 – Diversities — Varieties — Different Kinds

-these are the different gifts and areas where we can serve

(2.) v4 – Distribution

-the Holy Spirit distributes the gifts to each believer

***Never compare yourself with others

***Discover what you are not as well as what you are

***There are differences of Ministries

-Ministries means service – we are called to serve

-serving speaks of doing something for someone else

verse 6 – There are a variety of activities and operations

-this is different visions and flavors of ministry

-they all need to follow the Bible and the book of Acts

Verses 4-6 – the Trinity is the same yesterday, today and forever

verse 7 – The word MANIFESTATION means to benefit people

             – The word MANIFESTATION speaks of going public

Verses 8-11 – A list of the 9 spirituals

Verse 11 – 4 points about the Holy Spirit

1. There is only one Holy Spirit – Eph 4:4-6

2. He is the same Holy Spirit – Heb 13:8

3. The Hol;y Spirit is always moving – v11

working – is energy, activity and being alive

4. The Holy Spirit distributes the 9 spirituals

-no believer possesses any of the 9 spirituals

-the Holy Spirit determines who is used with the 9 spirituals

-1 Corinthians 12:10 – This speaks of the 9 spirituals and not the gift of tongues we get when we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit

v12 – the church is compared to a human body and both have many members

Verse 13 – There is only one true Holy Spirit

2 Cor 11:3-4, 13-15 — there are different and false spirits
