Luke 23:34 – “Father Forgive them for they know not what they do”

-these are some of the last words of Jesus which can be important words and lasting words

Father – Jesus approaches the Father

-we must stay close to Jesus no matter what is happening in our lives

Forgive them – 

(1) FORGIVING IS FOREVER –

Luke 23:34 – these words were repeated by the Lord

-Jesus simply wanted to glorify the Father and please Him

(2) FORGIVING IS IMMEDIATE – Ephesians 4:32

-Jesus forgave as soon as He was wounded and hurt

-pull the seed out of your heart immediately

(3) FORGIVENESS PLACES THE ATTENTION ON OTHERS  – LUKE 23:34

-Jesus focused on the Father and those who hurt Him and crucified Him

-When you don’t forgive, you are only hurting yourself

(4) JESUS MADE A DECISION TO FORGIVE –  Luke 23:34 & Eph 4:32

a. Jesus kept His relationship with the Father holy and pure

-Jesus never talked about what happened to anyone else

b. Obedience – forgive out of obedience

-ones’ feelings and emotions may not line up with your obedience

c. forgiveness is a testimony of a changed life – Acts 9:1-5, 13-16
