Acts 12
Fervent Prayer – Acts 12:1-5
-the early church were people of prayer
-the church is called a house of prayer – Isaiah 56:7 & Matt 21:13
-the church refers to individuals who all knew how to pray
-the enemy comes against people and churches that pray –
mistreat or harass – means to do evil against/opposition/torment
-Herod represents the enemy
-the Lord answers prayer – 1 Jn 5:14-15…Matt 21:22…John 15:16
FERVENT PRAYER
1. FERVENT PRAYER IS CONSTANT PRAYER – Luke 18:1…Gal 6:9
-fervent prayer is always prayer…continual prayer…keep on praying
-praying continually for something i snot a lack of faith – 1 Thess 5:17 & 2 Thess 1:11…Genesis 32:24-30
CONTINUAL PRAYER = CONTINUAL BREAKTHROUGHS
***FERVENT PRAYER PRODUCES HOLY SPIRIT MOMENTUM
-this is where spiritual impacts constantly happen and won’t stop
2. FERVENT PRAYER CAUSES A MEETING – vs1-5
a. we meet with God to get to know Him
b. we meet with the enemy – fervent prayer is keeping the pressure on. It is the picture of a tug of war
-enforce the victory after you gain the victory
3. FERVENT PRAYER IS ON FIRE PRAYER – JAMES 5:13-18
fervent means to boil, glow, burn and be very hot…to be alive
4. FERVENT PRAYER RELEASES THE SUPERNATURAL – vs7-11
-nothing humanly possible could be done for Peter
-an angel is released by the Lord to do His work and will
-the supernatural power of God only worked to do what Peter could not do for himself
5. FERVENT PRAYER IS NOT JUST FOR WHEN YOU ARE IN TROUBLE – Acts 12:1-5
-trouble will come. Prayer helps us through trouble
-pray at all times – during the good and bad times in our lives
-praying at all times does not eliminate trouble, but helps us through it
