Philippians 1:6-25

***There is a ton of UNCERTAINTY all around us today…….

***Paul lived during a time of uncertainty

(1.) REALIZE THERE IS ONLY CERTAINTY IN JESUS AND HIS WORD – Phil 1:6,25

confidence – means to be convinced; strong; sure and stable; fearless; secure

***STAND FIRM – Phil 1:27 – in Jesus and His Word

-stand firm – means to stand your ground;  be firm, solid and strong

     ***this is a military term to make a stand

                     a.) STAND FIRM & DO NOT GO BY YOUR FEELINGS

-There are many emotions today that people are feeling

-to defeat feelings, we must stand on the Word of God

                      b.) STAND FIRM WHEN YOU ARE GIVEN A BAD REPORT – Numbers 13:1, 26-33 and Numbers 14:1-2,20-24, 31-35

-twelve spies enter the promised land and 10 bring back a bad report

-Caleb had a different spirit (Numbers 14:24)

-GIVE VOICE TO THE WORD……..when you receive a bad report…

                      c.) STAND FIRM ON JESUS AND HIS WORD WHEN THE WORLD IS SHAKING – – 2 Thess 2:1-3

v2 – soon – speaks of getting ahold of yourself

shaken – means to be agitated; disturbed; to be moved

Stand Firm – is a picture of cement being set

Psalm 1:1-3 – like a tree planted by the water – we will not be moved

                        d.) STAND FIRM WHEN YOU DON’T SEE ANYTHING HAPPENING – Phil 1:13

-Paul did not see anything happening, but he knew something was happening

-The Lord is always moving and Remember:

        FOR GOD TO DO NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE…

-some times things get worse before they get better, but the Lord is still moving…
