CHAPTER 6

THE DISCIPLES WERE INCREASING IN NUMBERS – Acts 6:1, 7

Disciple – means learner…apprentice…student…follower & disciplined one

Follow – means to be on the same road that Jesus is on
a. Disciples must be truth based

b. John 14:6 & John 8:32-33
***The Bible is Absolute Truth
***2 Peter 1:21 – God wrote the Bible

***2 Chronicles 34 – Josiah found the bible in the temple and practiced it
1 2 Timothy 4:1-4

1. ONCE WE FIND THE WORD, WE MUST DEVELOP INTO BEREANS – Acts 17:11
-read, study and devour the Word of God

2. ONCE WE FIND THE WORD, WE MUST BELIEVE THE WORD – John 16:13
-all of the Word works…..only believe for all things are possible

3. ONCE WE FIND THE WORD, WE MUST PRACTICE THE WORD – John 2:1-5
-we must adjust to the Word of God..it does not adjust to us

Why should we be a Berean?

1. WHEN E READ AND STUDY THE WORD OF GOD, IT PRODUCES MORAL CERTAINTY
-The moral authority of our culture should be the Bible

-The answer to every cultural topic is found in the Bible

2. WHEN WE READ AND STUDY THE BIBLE, IT HELPS US TO DEFEND THE BIBLE
-Defend the gospel against wind – Eph 4:11-15

3. WHEN YOU READ AND STUDY THE BIBLE, IT PRODUCES MATURITY – Eph 4:11-13
-maturity is growing in the Lord

-maturity produces a spiritual battle because as we mature and grow as a believer:
1. we begin to invade enemy territory
2. we begin to expose the enemy
3. we make a clean break from the world
