Elijah
Elijah and Prayer
(1.) ELIJAH REPAIRED THE ALTAR – James 5:16-18 & 1 Kings 18:30-32
-Elijah lived during a very wicked and evil time
-Solution – It is time to pray & keep praying
-Elijah was a person just like us
Spiritual activity takes place as we pray
***in us – the Lord change us
***through us – the Lord uses us to see people saved and healed
***around us – the enemy is after us because of our prayer lives
THE SETTING OF CONDITIONS
-this is what the Lord says about prayer in the Bible…..
Example: When we pray the Lord moves. When we do not pray, He does not move
***Elijah rebuilt the altar with 12 stones….this speaks of unity and the 12 tribes of Israel being one kingdom and country again
UNITY + PRAYER = Things Happening
*Acts 1:14 & 2:1 – one accord – means to be on the same page/one mind & heart
-this all takes place in the “UPPER ROOM”
-1 Kings 17:17-24 – Elijah had an “UPPER ROOM” (v19)
-stay in the “UPPER ROOM”
-dead things can be raised from the dead when there is prayer and unity
***REMEMBER – build your own altar and do not ride the coattails of other prayer warriors
(2.) ENFORCE THE VICTORY – 1 Kings 18:30-32
***The term prayer meeting comes from the Hebrew word for intercession which means to meet
—when we pray we meet with the enemy and the Lord
-when we pray burdens are removed – Galatians 6:2
-bear means to carry away or lift off….be removed
-as Elijah and Israel prayed – burdens were lifted off and removed
-then Elijah and Israel kept praying to ENFORCE THE VICTORY……..Even after we gain the victory, then enforce the victory…………..
