Revelation

Revelation nine speaks of 2 armies:

     1. The Army From The Pit – vs1-12 – the 5th Trumpet Judgment

     2. The Army From The East – vs13-21 – the 6th Trumpet Judgment

                      THE ARMY FROM THE PIT

                               Revelation 9:1-12

v1 – a star falls from heaven – this is Lucifer who became satan – Is 14:12-14

v2 – the bottomless pit – this is the shaft or tunnel leading to hell – Matt 25:41

vs3-12 The Army From The Pit

Locusts – these are not real locusts, but represent demons

                     DEMONS

1. DEMONS ARE SPIRIT CREATURES – Luke 11:24-26

-they are fallen angels

-their description

*iron breastplates – cannot stop or kill them

*sound of chariots – a large swarm/a heavy roaring sound

*crowns – conquer people & nations

*faces of men – show peace, but are destructive

*horses – swift and fast

-they manifest themselves – Matthew 17:14-20

2. NOT EVERYTHING IS DEMONIC  – Galatians 5:16-21

-do not emphasize demons.  Emphasize Jesus Christ

-demons do jump on issues even if they are not the source of the issue

3. THE PURPOSE OF DEMONS IS TO TORMENT AND DESTROY – Jn 10:10

a. Mark 1:21-28 – they are unclean spirits

-they are out to only destroy – v4 – hurt or harm…v5 – torture…v10 – sting

b. satan leads demons and they are organized

c. Christians can never be possessed…NonChristians can be possessed

d. demons come after those who wholeheartedly follow Jesus Christ

4. WE HAVE ALL AUTHORITY OVER DEMONIC FORCES – Revelation 9:4

v2 – the key to the pit is given to the devil showing he does not have complete authority

-authority is commanding – Acts 16:16-18

5. DEMONS USE PEOPLE FOR THEIR PURPOSES – Matthew 16:21-23

-violence…church division…marriages

-demons can talk

-discernment is needed – 1 Cor 12:8-11

6. DEMONS DEVELOP DOCTRINE – 1 Timothy 4:2

Gift of discernment – 1 Cor 12:8-11

-not everything that is preached is the gospel of Jesus Christ

-we need to discern what it truth and what is false
