10/16 – Zechariah

***The prophet Zechariah came to Israel with words from the Lord

***Zechariah gave Israel two principles to walk in

PRINCIPLE #1 – We must understand that we are living in the last days – Zechariah 11:1 & 12:1-4

-the signs of the times reveal Jesus is coming back soon

-The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a sign that Jesus is coming soon

     ***We must let the Holy Spirit into our churches

-The future Battle of Armageddon is a sign that Jesus is coming back soon

      ***Zechariah 12

verse 1 – burden – means a crushing weight of judgment

-the judgment of God is going to come upon the enemies of Israel

-the judgment of God is not for the body of Christ – Romans 5:9/! Thess 1:10 and 1 Thess 5:19

verses1-2 – Two Declarations From The Lord

     (1.) The Judge  is the Creator – verse 1

     (2.)  The Battle of Armageddon is going to happen – verse 2

***I AM GOING TO…bring the nations of the world against Israel

     THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON – Revelation 16:13-16

1. Armageddon is a cup – a cup of trouble & refers to being shaken

-the nations of the world will be shaken

2. Armageddon ends at the return of Jesus Christ – Revelation 19:11-19

PRINCIPLE #2 – WE NEED TO FIND THE WORD OF GOD – Zech 11:4,7

-doomed to slaughter – this refers to hard times

-2 Kings 22:1-13

     ***The temple was filled with idolatry & other pagan artifacts

     ***The temple was cleaned up and they found the Bible

                          Points About The Word of God

1. God wrote the Bible – 2 Tim 3:16 & 1 Peter 1:20-21

-the Bible is God breathed scriptures from the Lord Himself

***When we read the Word of God we are listening to the very speech of God…

2. THE WORD OF GOD NEVER RETURNS VOID – Isaiah 55:11 & Hebrews 4:12

-the Word of God always accomplishes something

3. THE WORD OF GOD IS A SOURCE OF HEALING – Proverbs 4:20-22 and Psalm 107:20-22

-The Word can be sent out to bring healing to people – Matthew 8:5-13

4. THE BIBLE PRODUCES MORAL CERTAINTY – Amos 8:11

-During the time of Samson the people did what seemed right in their own eyes

Judges 17:6 and & 21:25

***The Bible has the answer for todays moral issues and for all issues:

-Abortion – Jeremiah 1:1-4

-Trans issues – Deut 22:5

-Gay lifestyle – Romans 1:26-27 & 1 Cor 6:9-10

-Marriage – Genesis 2:21-25

-Identity – Genesis 1:27
