1 Peter 3:8-9

*THINGS JESUS WANTS YOU TO DO

-To do what Jesus wants us to do, we must have a heart of surrender – Rev 3:20

Some things Jesus wants us to do:

(1.) JESUS WANTS US TO BE PATIENT WITH BELIEVERS

1 Peter 3:8 – BE…BE

Be – means to become

-every believer is becoming

-Christianity is a becoming faith

               a. Becoming is not arriving

-becoming is a process

-arriving is when we get to heave

-Phil 3:12

-believers will always be becoming while they living on earth

              b. Becoming is not the complete absence of issues, problems & sins

Being saved does not remove all of our issues and problems

-Jesus will make us to be something which speaks of a process

              c. Becoming must become personal

-Focus on yourself…examine yourself

-we all have issues to work on – walk in humility and no pride allowed

          HUMILITY IS 3 THINGS

1. HUMILITY IS SELF EXAMINATION

– every believer is becoming

-look within ourselves

-Galatians 6:1-5 – Paul talks about spiritual people

-Spiritual People – are those who are strong, on fire and close to Jesus

v1 – consider yourself – examine yourself

v3 – arrogance vs humility

-we are nothing and He is everything

v4 – examine your own life – 1 Cor 11:28…2 Cor 13:5…Psalm 26:2

2. HUMILITY RESTORES

-This is helping others

Restore – means to place things back into their original state

-ti repair…to mend..to put a broken bone back in place

v1 – brethren – brothers and sisters in Christ

a man – this is a member of the church

overtaken – overcome by some sin…to stumble & slip – this is an unintentional sin & it’s not deliberate

trespasses – means to fall…a lapse…a slip…an unintentional error

Why are we going to restore people?

1. Obedience  – the Lord asks us to restore believers

2. because believers are always becoming

3. because we may fall and slip one day – Gal 6:1b

3. HUMILITY LOVES PEOPLE – 1 Peter 3:8

-pray for them

-disciple them

-help them with classes & resources

-be firm
